Lung Cancer Screening program

About the National Lung Cancer Screening Program

Benefits of Early Detection:

Higher survival rates

Improved quality of life

More effective treatment options (often involving surgery)

Screening Pathway:

Those with no findings are rescreened every 2 years.

Low-moderate risk individuals may be rescreened sooner or referred to a specialist.

High-risk individuals are directly referred to a specialist for evaluation.

Overall, the NLCSP aims to reduce lung cancer deaths in Australia by promoting early detection and facilitating access to appropriate treatment.
